Honest answers about time, price, and what detailing can and can’t fix.
How long does a detail take?
Express (exterior hand wash) takes about 45 minutes. A Standard detail is around 3 hours, and a Professional detail about 5 hours. Larger or very dirty vehicles take longer.
Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are strongly recommended so a bay and detailer are ready for you. Request a time online or call/text and we’ll confirm.
What is included in a full detail?
Our Standard detail covers a foam and two-bucket hand wash, wheels and tires, bug removal, door jambs, a foam-on paint sealant, deep vacuum, floor mats extracted, seat and carpet spot shampoo, dash and trim UV protection, leather cleaning and glass inside and out.
Do you shampoo or extract seats and carpets?
Yes. Standard includes floor mats extracted plus spot shampoo on seats and carpet. Professional includes full extraction of every seat, carpet and mat — or add it to Standard from $69.
Can you remove stains?
Most food, drink and organic stains lift well. Some — dye transfer, ink, bleach marks, burns — are permanent damage and may only lighten. We’ll tell you what to expect before we start.
Can you remove pet hair?
Yes. Heavy, woven-in pet hair takes extra time and is an add-on from $49.
Do you offer ceramic coating or paint correction?
Both are coming soon. Today, our Professional detail includes a ceramic paint sealant for gloss, slickness and water beading. Send a request and we’ll let you know when coatings open.
What does ceramic coating do?
It bonds a hard, slick layer to your paint. You get more gloss, water beads off, and dirt releases more easily so washing is faster and safer. It also adds a barrier against UV and road grime.
Will ceramic coating remove scratches?
No. Coating isn’t a repair, and it doesn’t make paint scratch-proof. Swirls and scratches need to be polished out first — that’s why prep is part of every ceramic package.
What is paint correction?
Machine polishing that removes a microscopic layer of clear coat to level swirls and light scratches. It’s what restores real gloss to tired paint.
How often should I detail my vehicle?
For most daily drivers: a hand wash every 2–4 weeks and a full detail two to four times a year. Coated cars mainly need safe maintenance washes.
Do you detail trucks and SUVs?
Yes. Larger vehicles take more time and product, so SUV and truck prices are listed for every package on the pricing page.
Where are you located?
Midtown Auto Spa is at 1906 16th St, Sacramento, CA 95811 — at Midtown Smog. You drive in and drop off; we’re not a mobile service.
How is pricing determined?
By service, vehicle size and condition. Our posted prices are starting points for a sedan in normal condition. Heavy dirt, pet hair or stains can add time — we confirm the final price after a quick look at the vehicle, before any work begins.
Do I need to remove belongings before my appointment?
Yes, please remove valuables and personal items, plus child seats if you’d like underneath them cleaned. It saves time and keeps your things safe.
